The Price of Freedom

This memorial literally had us all speechless. It wasn't just a breathtaking display, it was something really important.

There were so many beautiful parts. We could've spent the whole day walking around it.

There were large columns to represent the soldiers who died from each and every state in the country.

and a gorgeous fountain in the middle. We just sat and thought quietly about the thousands and thousands of Daddies and sons and brothers who gave their lives for our country in WWII.

and Mommy was crying the whole time just thinking about the Moms and wives who lost loved ones.

It was a pretty strong message for us. The price of freedom is very very high.

and all of these men paid it for us. We thought especially of Mom's Dido and his brother who fought in the Canadian army.

and there were more than a few Vandys with tears in our eyes as we thought of the Americans who died too.  Thank you for the amazing gift of freedom.
