The Great Canadian Adventure - "The Canada White House"

After our morning swim in Ottawa, we left the hotel for a nice walk. About a block in, we saw this building. I saw this dog and thought it was AMAZING.

More buildings. Why were Mom and Dad so excited about these? They tried to tell me they looked like castles. Yeah right...
Coley had been talking about "The Canada White House" for weeks. Mom kept reminding him it was called Parliament, but we knew what he meant.

Another old building on the way to the Canada White House.

Mom thought this gate was nice and made us all strike a quick pose.

Then we were finally there. What a gorgeous building!

Coley wanted to take some pictures to show his friends.

There may have been some international tension as we debated which "white house" was better.
Then we saw this fire/water thing and the vote quickly changed to 3/1 for Canada!

We couldn't wait to go inside and explore!

We don't have buildings like this is New Pal!

It was so full of history.

There weren't many places we could go because we went on the day they were voting whether or not to help the US in the fight against ISIS. There were a LOT of very friendly Canadian policemen there but no royal guards :( The policemen said they were only there in the summer.

One thing about being stuck with your brother in the car for 30 hours, you kind of get to like him a little more!

This was my favorite part of the "Canada White House."

Mom liked the memorial room which taught us about all the wars Canadian soldiers had fought and died in.

Coley loved this stained glass window.

It was a pretty sad room actually.

There were very old books which held the names of soldiers who fought for Canada years and years ago. Mom told us about her Gruncle Martin who died in WWII and her Dido who fought in the war but didn't die.

What a great room.

One more shot outside beside the fire/water sculpture.

It was really cool!

And the Vandy's said "goodbye" to Parliament and "hello" to the shopping district!

There were so many cool sights to see, but Mom's cameras were both dead. We did manage to get this shot of our favorite store. This poor Moose didn't look like he'd seen any action in a LONG time so we made sure he got his fill before Mom told us we were about to get kicked out.
We left soon afterwards for an 8 hour drive back to America. We stopped to buy weird Canadian groceries Mom used to eat and arrived in Detroit at midnight. If Dad ever needs a career change, we are all confident he'd be an excellent trucker. He drove 30+ hours in 6 days to give us a fantastic Canadian Adventure. Thank you Pops!

We had a great time exploring Canada and getting to know some really wonderful people. We can't wait to go back!
