Mom's Least Favorite Day of the Year

Oh no... the big day is here. Mom has been in denial all summer and so have we. I started the morning by staging a full on protest and refusing to leave Mom. Eventually I caved, but I told them I was only going to ride the bus.

We were good sports, but let's just say it wasn't the greatest morning we've had...

and Rowan was devastated! He couldn't believe we were back to this!

He tried to talk us out of it, but we had to go.

Don't do it Brycey! Don't get on the yellow box of death!

The Dads weren't too upset! Mom definitely had some funny faces but she insisted we were going to have an outstanding day and she would be right there to meet me at school.

and then there it was. Row Row lost his ever loving mind and Mommy hid behind her camera making sniffling noises.

but there was no stopping it. We were off to the next big adventure!

and about 30 minutes later, there I was walking to my classroom! Mom had a big pile of soggy tissues in her hand. That was weird.

Around the corner and into the next chapter of my life - Kindergarten!

In the bottom left corner of this picture is the kid who I chewed out at the ice cream social. I think he was pretty clear on the rules about touching my head phones, but I shot him a few disapproving looks just to be sure. It's always best to start a fight on the first day so the gangs know not to mess with you. Just like prison.
Meanwhile on the other side of the building, these two BFFs were super excited to be in the same class again. How does THAT happen?!  Must be all those prayers Mama Vandy and Mama Hinkle said :) Not only are they together, but they have the best teacher too - Mrs. Polster is a perfect fit. It's going to be a great year for these two.

Throughout the day, Mom was emailing and texting back and forth with my new Kindergarten teacher Miss McQueen. She was very committed to making sure I was safe and using only safe paints and play doh etc. What an awesome teacher I got too!

and then... the moment of truth. The big yellow box returned and Mom and Rowan waited patiently to hear about our first day.

We were still alive...

And I had THE BEST DAY EVER!!!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new class! I couldn't stop telling Mom all about my new friends and the new songs and the rules and all the cool stuff and "when is time to go back?!" Hooray for Kindergarten!

and yeah... 4th grade was okay... I guess... whatever Mom.

So, the first day is in the books. 179 more to go!
